In case you don't know, I LOVE Ed, Edd n Eddy! This show is what got me to beg my mom to get cable in our house! It was funny, it was weird and best of all, it was entertaining! To mark the show's 24th anniversary, (God, I feel old) I'll be taking a look at their finale, Big Picture Show.

Image

After a decade of being on the air and entertaining people, Danny Antinocci felt it was time to lay the Eds to rest, but not without going out in style with a feature-length movie in 2009. Ending Cartoon Network’s long-running series in a satisfying way that wraps it up in a nice bow. And that’s something you don’t see often in most cartoons today, primarily due to the networks canceling them too early or the endings just not feeling very satisfying. But Ed, Edd n Eddy got it right. So let’s see how they did it!

(Also, just to let you know in advance, I’ll be delving into spoilers, so readers beware.)

Image

The movie starts with quiet shots of the Cul-De-Sac, devoid of kids and any music, just the ambience of the environment, intercut with shots of what had just happened and it doesn’t look good. But then we see as each of the Eds are in a hurry to get out of dodge, as one of their scams has gone awry in the worst way possible. As the Eds escape in Eddy’s brother’s car, we get a glimpse at the other kids and… Holy shit!

What the hell did the Eds do cause those?! It’s never revealed what their scam was, but to be fair, it’d be hard to top their previous scams that they’ve already come up with.

Anyways, a thrilling chase ensues, ending with the Eds escaping, but the kids decide to follow them on their own. Two of them being Jimmy and Sarah who, after a run-in with the Kanker sisters, join along in finding the Eds, the Kankers wanting to protect their “boyfriends”. The Eds themselves figure they can’t go back home and decide that the best place to go is to Eddy’s brother for protection from the kids.

And for the first time, we’re outside of the Cul-De-Sac! Yeah, we leave their usual turf and explore beyond that, from a field of cows, to an abandoned joke factory to a swamp, until they reach a coastal theme park called Mondo A-Go Go. It’s nice to see more of the Ed, Edd n Eddy world outside since throughout the series, we just stick with the characters in the neighborhood.

As the Eds travel to find Eddy’s brother, Double D loses his hat! Though it isn’t shown, we do get some clues as to what Double D is hiding. Ed and Eddy have seen what’s under his hat in “Stop, Look and Ed”. And based on their reactions in that episode, and here, it’s likely that Double D is hiding some kind of scar from everyone.

During all this, Double D becomes the victim of Ed and Eddy’s pranks and when one goes too far at a swamp, where Ed and Eddy pretend that they’re sinking in quicksand, Double D finally snaps. He berates Eddy for his behavior, not just on this mis-adventure, but for everything that’s happened in the series prior. It’s honestly an amazing scene when Eddy finally breaks and admits that everything has been his own fault and Double D forgives him and they continue making their way to Eddy’s brother.

Image

Throughout the series, Eddy’s brother has been built up as this pillar of respect by Eddy himself, as well as someone feared by the many kids of the Cul-De-Sac, and we finally get to meet for real! At first he seems pretty chill until he decides to play “Uncle” with his little brother.

Image

Involving him torturing Eddy in front of everyone, which makes the kids who previously wanted to pound him feel bad for him and decide to stand up for him. And then, Ed finally has his moment to shine by doing something smart for once, by loosening the hinge to the door Eddy’s gripping, as it propels straight into Eddy’s brother’s face! Oof, talk about walking into a door. I’m gonna be honest, the first time I saw that, it was super satisfying.

Image

Eddy then reveals that everything he’s told about his older brother was a lie, that way people would think he’s cool and like him. And as the kids look like they’re ready to pound the Eds into the ground… They lift them up and cheer for them! Finally being accepted by the Cul-De-Sac kids and they all go home for jawbreakers.

Image

Not before Jonny shows up to beat up the Eds, not knowing what happened. The kids beat up Jonny and get back to where they were. The film ends with everyone singing Friends Are There To Help You', a nod to the episode, “If It Smells Like An Ed”.

Image

We also get a post-credit scene where Jonny basically goes through a supervillain origin story but Plank tells him that there’s no time, that it’s “the end of the movie”. With Jonny asking, “What movie?”

A great movie and series finale all around, though it does have some shortcomings. Nothing too major, just some minor nitpicks. Kevin and Nazz are kinda out of character as Nazz is suddenly crushing on Kevin when it was the other way around and their schtick with Kevin ignoring her to care for his bike does kinda get a bit old after awhile. Jonny hardly gets much to do, especially since he’s one of my favorite characters on the show. But aside from that, it’s earned it’s place as one of the best cartoon finales in the history of animation.

I give Ed, Edd n Eddy’s Big Picture Show… 5 Planks out of 5!

Felt like doing a review of one of my favorite episodes of one of my favorite cartoons, Courage the Cowardly Dog. Now, I've seen people say that they either love this episode or hate it. As mentioned before, I LOVE this episode. It's creepy while also giving us an interesting insight on how serial killers operate, while still being a children's cartoon.

The episode begins with a bus ride, heading to Nowhere. On the bus is a single passager, Fred, who is Muriel's nephew, coming to visit her. Throughout the episode, we hear Fred speak in rhyme in his head. We get a glimpse into his mindset and learn about him and his, um... interest for cutting hair. And like some of the antagonists of this show, he's not malicious, he just has urges he can't keep under control. He also has a fascination with the word "naughty", always emphasising it.

As Fred makes his way to the Bagge farm, Eustace is fixing the bathroom door while telling Courage about Fred. Which gets Courage fearful of his arrival. However, Muriel is excited for her nephew to visit. As Fred makes himself comfortable at the Bagge residence, he spots Courage, which triggers his urges, but he keeps his composure quite well... At least until Eustace locks Courage with him in the bathroom.

Now, this is why some people actually hate this episode. Courage's shaving. I've some people say how this episode is just "mean-spirited" towards Courage, making have to go through a clean shave. But if really think about it, this isn't really the worst thing that's happened to Courage. He goes through much worse as the show goes on. I just feel like some people take things way too seriously sometimes.

Anyways, as Fred goes about shaving Courage, he reminisces about his previous "victims". Like how he got started in his hair cutting adventures with his pet hamster. And then escalating to his girlfriend, Barbara, and finally unleashing his uncontrollable urge on a random stranger. Again, this episode is an allegory for textbook serial killers, from Fred moving from his pet to people, how he can't control himself and how he lets his urges get the better of him.

As Courage is being shaved, he manages to call the Home for Freaky Barbers, they eventually arrive and take Fred back. Courage then looks at his rump and finds that Fred left a little shaved message, "With love, Fred".

Thanks for reading, been a while since I've been able to review anything at all. But what do you think? Is this episode really that bad or is it as good as everybody says, including myself? Let me know in the comments. Also let me know if you'd like to see me do more text reviews?

Fynn: The Meme

4 min read

I was inspired by my friend LocalPeaches 😉

  1. Their first design VS their current one: Well, to start, his original personality was much different. He was basically, irl me. But I decided to make him more like what I wish I was, as well as his own character. Design wise, he originally looked like something out of Star vs. and had purple shorts. Now he's in my own cartoony art style and no longer wears shorts.

  2. Why are they your fursona?: Because at this point, I'm camera shy, but I still wanted to have a presence on the internet. I saw some internet users had personas/fursonas and can speak through them. So I decided to do that.

  3. What’s different between you and your fursona?: Fynn is who I wish I could be, I am who I am.

  4. Their theme song: He's got quite a few. Just a Kid by Wilco and Let's Get Re*arded by the Black Eyed Peas. As well as Bryce Vine's The Thug Song, and any song by Pink Guy. Just any song that's offensive, because Fynn enjoys freedom of speech, no matter how offensive it may sound.

  5. Give them a canon voice!: Bill Hader. Just Bill Hader.

  6. What does your fursona love and hate?: Fynn loves Danny DeVito. And Fynn hates.

  7. Their body type VS yours: We're about the same. I'm just taller and have smaller tits.

  8. How strong is your connection to your fursona?: Pretty close.

  9. Is your fursona shipped with anyone else’s character?: Fynn's shipped with @cuterspine's Vindy. And has a crush on @ArtDexo2000's Slick. And I like to think that he has a crush on @AxlReigns's Axl.

  10. Who/what is your fursona based off of?: He's based on a couple of characters, he was somewhat inspired by classic (S1-1st Movie) Spongebob, and his personality is a mix of Eddy from Ed, Edd n Eddy, FilthyFrank, Rigby, Trevor Philips, and some Master Shake.

  11. Do you wish your fursona was real?: YES!!! Though if he was, we'd probably get into a lot of trouble. Or at least if it was for some kind of big adventure.

  12. How much did you spend on art of them so far?: Are talking money or GBs? Either way, I don't know.

  13. Where would your fursona live if they were real?: Los Angeles.

  14. Have you ever sold/traded them before?: Nope.

  15. Their favorite holiday: Halloween AND Christmas.

  16. Pick a movie character they relate to!: Arthur Fleck from Joker (2019).

  17. Pick another fictional character they relate to: The Condom from Sausage Party, because no matter what, in the end, Fynn finds a way to get fucked.

  18. When were they born (created)?: Somewhere in California.

  19. Who is their close friend?: MrTri1Eye

  20. Did you create them?: Yes.

  21. Their favorite season: Summer, he just loves that summer fun!

  22. Do you have a fursuit of them? If not, do you want one?: I don't have a fursuit of him, but I wish. Say... if one of you is nice enough to make one of him for- Nah, I'm kidding. I'm not gonna ask any of you to make it for me for free, I'm not that low.

  23. How long have they been your fursona?: I think for as long as I've been on Deviantart, which is... lemme see... 5 years.

  24. How many times have they been redesigned/altered?: Just once.

  25. Their favorite restaurant: McDonald's. It's practically his church. He prays to Ronald McDonald for providing McDonald's food to shove down his gullet.

  26. Do they have any phobias?: Spiders, being truly alone.

  27. Name one thing people forget when drawing them: Sometimes, they forget that his nose is blue.

  28. Favorite art piece of them: Fynn kissing a picture of Danny DeVito

  29. Do they represent you or a part of you?: Like I've said, they're basically what I want to be.

Tell me one fun fact about them!: He enjoys sexual pleasure from men, women and non-bianaries!

Years ago, my mom moved me and my older brother into a house, that I believe it was built around the very early 1900s. It was one story with a wooden floor, but there was something up with it. I'd always hear footsteps in the hallway at night. My brother's nose would constantly bleed. And a friend of the family actually heard children giggling late at night, and she booked it as soon as my mom got home.
